I admit I was a Clintonite but as the weeks have gone by, her campaign has looked pretty desperate and they are damaging the party with their dirty politics. Especially as Bill Clinton once said this: "If one candidate's trying to scare you, and the other one's trying to get you to think; if one candidate's appealing to your fears, and the other one's appealing to your hopes; you'd better vote for the person who wants you to think and hope." ("Unless the fear mongerer is my missus.")
But what has clinched my switch, and is much more important, is finding out Obama's favourite TV show is also mine: The Wire.
Some might argue that you can't judge a politician by the type of show they watch but Gordon Brown's favourite is X Factor - one of the most popular shows in the country that shows him to be man of people. Obama could have said American Idol - the most popular show in his country which also has the advantage of having "American" in the title.
The Wire is an epic state of the nation series that reflects what's going on. Although it doesn't offer solutions it makes the prospect of anyone signing piss-poor economic, education, drugs and crime bills after watching it a bit less likely.
The Wire has just finished for good in the States and will be on FX soon but everywhere I turn to on the web someone has mentioned catching up with it on DVD. It's going to be a long time until its position as the greatest television drama ever is threatened. Although I will come close with my own.
Cults - Worship The Wire after this four-minute indoctrination!
